Rachel chewed chewing gum at the airport....

FINALLY! I have been reunited with Rachel after a year! (Skype just really never can cut it!) There she was waiting for me at the arrivals gate, chewing gum. After the initial shock of the gum chewing (because I was scared for our lives mostly) we hugged and jumped around for a bit and then got over it.

Rach and I probs got our bearings for real about two days in to being here, which is good. We've been staying in The Mitraa backpackers Hostel which is a little out of the city centre so my awesome map skills *cough* have been regularly put to the test. I am proud to report that we have only been lost about twice.....or something like that, maybe.

There aren't as many backpackers as I intially anticipated staying in Singapore. It's definitely more the city to come if you are looking for work over here or a stop off destination before venturing off to see the rest of what Asia has to offer. The latter definitely apples to us. The last few days we have used to sort out visas, get over jet-lag and gather advice from some of the regulars here at The Mitraa. Don't get me wrong, there is a hell of a lot to do and see around here but (in my opinion) nothing that I couldn't probably do better and cheaper in another country.

Singapore has proved a great stepping stone though, with English being the primary language it has been made pretty easy for us. I seriously couldn't say enough about the guys in The Mitraa, they've been fantastic in helping us get around, giving us advice and just generally making us laugh and feel at home. It's made everything a lot easier to deal with. Their working hours are insane, they must be god damn shattered but I swear they are always there laughing, joking, spontaneously breaking out in dance (so odd) and just being mental on a regular basis. Ooh they're just wonderful!

I have a million more things to say about the food and other such delights but I am seriously boiling here and need to get ready for my first night out in this place with some old friends, small world!!

Leaving for Bali on Monday. I'll keep you posted and get some photos up soons.

Loves xx
